ENCOURAGE YOUR CHILD TO EMBRACE THEIR TRUE COLORS!

This book takes a familiar icon, the yellow rain-coat, and attaches an unforgettable notion: we can reach deep within ourselves to find confidence and happiness. When read aloud, the words will skip over your tongue. Children and adults alike will be captivated looking at each of the illustrated pages. And the meaningful use of color cleverly transforms each page as the story unfolds before your eyes.

ABOUT THE ILLUSTRATIONS

As a little girl at the fabric store, my mom would allow me to leaf through the big pattern books to look at all the stylish drawings while she shopped. The way these illustrations used line work, color, drape, and posture to convey mood and personality has always stuck with me. Fashion illustration remains an important inspiration in much of my work today. You will see that in the pages of my book, where my illustrations are inspired by that sophisticated style and feature intentional washes of color that celebrate the ripple effect of one little girl’s decision to embrace her true colors. This video elegantly captures the process of illustrating one of the pages.
